Toronto, Canada
BMG CANADA Inc. today used Toronto-based Musicrypt's revolutionary DMDS (Digital Media Distribution System) as the lead delivery vehicle to service Canadian radio with "Star of All the Planets", the new single by Canadian Idol Ryan Malcolm.
BMG Canada Inc. will distribute the broadcast quality digital music file simultaneously and securely over the Internet this Friday, November 30 at 7:00 AM, Eastern Time.
The new single by the 24 year old native of Kingston, Ontario will be available initially exclusively to those registered on DMDS. Canadian Idol was the most watched program in Canadian television history.
"We find DMDS not only a great way to move files around internally, but also to service the media efficiently, fairly and securely" said Warren Copnick, Director, National Promotion, BMG Canada Inc. "We like the fact that every designated individual can preview and download a file at the same time, on time, every time. We had the opportunity to send an advance sample of the song to radio for preview purposes today, and will follow up with the downloadable version on Friday morning at 7 AM ET."
"The benefits of the secure digital movement of files instantly over the Internet will be fully realized again with the release of this important record," said Musicrypt Vice President, Sales and Marketing Director, Peter Diemer. "With such tremendous interest in Ryan and a strong song, we're very pleased that after extensive internal testing BMG has chosen "Star of All the Planets" as their lead track to be delivered via DMDS."
Because DMDS is installed at most of the stations in Canada's largest broadcast chains, such as Standard, Corus, Rogers, CHUM, NewCap and Maritime, including 95% of all BDS (Broadcast Data Systems) reporting stations, the impact will be felt immediately on radio audiences all across Canada.
Both major and independent record labels and studios are using DMDS increasingly to facilitate internal communications and to service media at a lower cost and without leaks.
