Yangaroo’s patent portfolio consists of:

  1. Three (3) Content Distribution System and Method patents, namely:

    Issued Canadian Patent No. 2,407,774, Issued U.S. Patent No. 7,529,712 & U.S. Application No. 12/398,238

    The 774 Patent was filed on October 11, 2002 and is valid and enforceable until at least October 10, 2022; the 712 Patent was filed on May 8, 2003 and is valid and enforceable until at least May 7, 2023; and the 238 Application was filed on March 5, 2009 and once issued, will have a 20 year registration period from May 8, 2003, subject to any extension which may be granted by the USPTO.

    The 774 Patent contains 75 claims including five independent claims (1, 21, 30, 42 and 63) and relates generally to a method and system for the secure distribution of content to a plurality of recipients over a computer network.  The method, computer program and system claims address two components of the content distribution system. 

    The first component of the system relates to the secure uploading and distribution of the content to a database from a content provider (Claims 1 to 29 & 42 to 62).  The second component of the system is the secure retrieval of the content from the database by users.  (Claims 30-41 & 63-75).  Encryption/decryption is also a feature of independent claims 30 and 63.

    Similar to the 774 Patent, the 712 Patent contains the method claim and the 238 Application contains the system claims for the secure distribution of content to a plurality of recipients over a computer network.

  2. Two (2) Biometric Rights Management System patents, namely:

    Issued Canadian Patent No. 2,349,797 & Issued U.S. Patent No. 7,003,670

    The 797 Patent was filed on June 7, 2001 and is valid and enforceable until at least June 6, 2021; and the 670 Patent was filed on June 8, 2001 and is valid and enforceable until at least June 7, 2021. 

    The 797 Patent contains 25 claims including three independent claims (1, 11 and 17) and the 670 Patent contains 26 claims including three independent claims (1, 14 and 12).  Both the 797 and 670 Patents relate generally to an apparatus and method for using biometric information and encryption techniques to control and monitor access to digital media.

  3. Two (2) Media File Distribution System and Method patents, namely:

    Canadian Patent Application No. 2,603,460 & U.S. Application No. 11/854,289

    The 460 Application was filed on September 12, 2007 and the 289 Application was filed on September 12, 2007.  Both patents, once issued, will have a 20 year registration period from their respective date of filing, subject to any extension which may be granted by the USPTO.

    The 460 and 289 Applications currently contain 19 claims including three independent claims (1, 10 and 19).  Both the 460 and 289 Applications relate generally to a file distribution method and system for distributing media files using peer-to-peer file distribution protocols such as BitTorrent, while maintaining security and control over the file distribution.
